2D to 3D Map

Imagine having a 2D image used as a regional map, clicking on a location in that region will bring up another (linked) map. The secondary map may be a zoomed in version of the smaller area in the region (as determined by the GM), within this 2D map could be other clickable elements that open to a tertiary map (2D or 3D).

There should be a number of levels that a GM could input and determine what sort of images or maps will be displayed. When they get to the final map where minis are needed, it would be great to have the ability to make a map of a town, forest, whatever for the encounter.

This way the GM/Players could move tokens on the 2D maps where battles aren't occurring, and have trigger points for random encounters as well as the ability for the group to move across landscapes form one town to another.
